In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Captain Christopher Fogg, Commander of the ESSEX, asks to be paid for the time he commanded the MARIANA prize and the OXFORD, although he has not yet passed his accounts. You are directed, in consideration of him being on a foreign voyage, to have 2/3 of the wages due paid. In case it appears hereafter that the captain has not complied with his Instructions, you are to take care care that His Majesty be made a saver out of his growing pay.
