In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The supplier of slops to the Navy is worried that he will not receive payment for his goods from ships' Pursers and has forbidden them to issue any more. An Order is given for samples of goods to be viewed and approved first by the Navy Board and then sent aboard the various ships for Officers to be able to judge whether the goods already supplied are worth the prices to which the supplier is officially entitled. This was the usual practice and should be continued.
