In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Lords Justices have by an Order in Council dated May 6th upon a Report from the Customs Commissioners to the Treasury Commissioners, directed that a small Vessel of about forty tons shall be dispatched to follow the Orders of the Governor of Maryland for the time being. The Charge of the said Vessel should be borne by the Navy as directed by the Order in Council.
We are sending a Copy of the Order and direct you to cause so much thereof as relates to your Office to be punctually complied with. Also you should cause a Brigantine to be fitted for the voyage and victualled for twelve months, if you think her a proper Vessel for this Service. If not, you are to report your opinion what Vessel you judge fitting to be thus employed.
