In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Sometime since we directed you to cause one of the sixth Rates in the River to be payed with a new Composition invented by Mr Charles Ardesais, and he has informed us that following your directions he went to Deptford in order to do this with the HENRY Prize, but she had been payed before with ordinary Stuff. We hereby direct you to cause the said experiment to be made on the first Ship ofhis Majesty's which comes up the River to be cleaned.
