In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
It appears to us by a Certificate in the hands of the Captain and Officers of the HAMPSHIRE that William Thomas died in the action of extinguishing a fire on board her. Direct you to make the same allowance to the Widows and Children of William Thomas out of the tenth of Prizes as would have been made to them by the Rules of the Navy, had he been slain in a fight with the Enemy.
