Document signed by William Bridgeman, circa 1646-1699, English civil servant and Secretary to the Admiralty between 1694 and 1698

Referring to a copy of a letter from Captain Aston concerning the dispatch of the PELICAN, the Navy Board is now informed that the PELICAN is to be supplied with a small boat and that the Commissioners for Transportation have been directed to give her her sailing orders, and that when she has delivered her Provisions at Newfoundland she is to return to England under convoy of the DREADNOUGHT; and in the event that her Owners do not supply her with Gunner's Stores an Order will be sent to the Dreadnought to do so. The Commissioners for Transport have been informed. Captain Aston has also said he believes that John Brooking the former Master might now be prepared to sail in her. This will be acceptable to the Admiralty provided redeploying him does not cause delay in her sailing.
