A pocket diary of Purser, William Crickmay, 1854. This first volume in William Crickmay's series of diaries notes him joining his first ship, the SOLENT, to find that the ship already had a purser, ‘the Master wishing us to settle the affair between us’. The diary also records setting foot in America.
