Logbook of James Furnell, covering voyages on the East Indiamen WINDSOR and SERINGAPATAM, 1843-1852.
Logbook kept by James Furnell as master of the WINDSOR (1835) and then the SERINGAPATAM (1837) in 1843-1852. The rear of the volume has a chronological list of vessels launched at Blackwall Yard, 1825-1842, directions for navigation and pilotage, details of expenses, and notes on the treatment of ailments including cholera and dysentery. One page has dates of birth, baptism, confirmation and vaccination for his three daughters Mary Katharine Furnell, Annie Marie Furnell and Flora Mary Furnell. There are also newspaper cuttings reporting on fast passages to India made by the SERINGAPATAM, and membership cards for the Bible & Prayer Union.
