Accompanied by a letter from Arthur Marder(1910-1980) of 17 Jul 1968 to Lillian, Lady Chatfield (1891?-1977), regarding the letters. Correspondence includes: letter from Chatfield to Sir Robert Vansittert (1881-1957), Permanent under-secretary in the Foreign Office, 21 January 1938; 2 letters from Chatfield to Sir William Wordsworth Fisher (1875-1937), Commander-in Chief Mediterranean Fleet dated 25 Aug 1935 and 19 Dec 1935; 2 memorandums to CNS on Admiralty headed paper, dated 17 Feb 1938 and 12 Mar 1936. Former has an added [later?] manuscript note "Admiral James to CNS". Latter is regarding article in the Times about Jutland. [7 items]
