Leather lid from a case lined in silk with inscribed metal plaque: "Presented to LIEUT. A.M. FIELD R.N. By Lords Coms of Admy Oct 1875". Maker's label on the reverse for Gould and Porter, optician and mathematical instrument maker, indicating the original contents of the case.
