Letters and Orders received 10 May - 23 November 1790. Copy letterbook covering Prince William Henry's (future King William IV) command of the VALIANT. The volume begins with a long letter from Lord Keppel outlining the sailing qualities of the vessel, and measures taken to improve her. Other letters cover topics such as forming the line of battle, and signals. The second half of the volume contains orders issued by William, signed by him, form ing a list of standing orders for his men, as well as reports of the vessel's guard duty.
