Admiralty Compass Observatory, 1842-1971
Report on experiments made on board HMS AURORA to ascertain the causes and effects of heeling error by Captain E W Creak, Superintendent of Compass Department. These experiments led to the development of the Pattern 5 H E Instrument, still in use a century later. Photocopy of original document which can be found in ACO/4/12/1.
