Admiralty Compass Observatory, 1842-1971
Notes by E W Creak on the invention by Mr Buckholtz of Charlton, electrical engineer, which was to communicate by electric means the direction of the ship's head as shown by the standard compass on deck to any number of compasses without needles placed in any part of an iron ship.
