Logbooks and extracts of logbooks, 1801-1827 covering Malcolm's early career through to his taking command of the Royal Yachts WILLIAM AND MARY and ROYAL CHARLOTTE with which Malcom attended on the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, the Marquis of Wellesley at Dublin the Royal Charlotte was a new yacht which replaces the WILLIAM AND MARY. Much of the time was spent at morrings in Kingstown Harbour but visits were made to places around Ireland, the Isle of Man and English dockyard for refittings.
The log extracts cover all the entries relating to important incidents and are linked by autobiographical narrative, so providing useful summary of the first part of Malcom's career. These include ALBRATROSS (Cruising on India station, October 1801 to May 1802.) EURUDICE (India station and voyage to England, June 1802 - April 1903.) RAISONNABLE (April - July 1804.) NARCISSUS (Cruising with Channel Fleet and to the West Indies, 1806-1809.) RHIN (1809 - 1814.)
