In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You informed us of the extravagant demands made by the Masters of the ships at Liverpool for the transporting of the 1500 soldiers on board to London Derry. Direct your correspondent there to make the best agreement he can with the Masters. Captain Gifford, Commander of the PHOENIX, refitting at Woolwich, informs that the Crowns men turned over to the HAMPSHIRE have no victuals on board her and are disatisfied and will not work .He proposes ordering them victuals from the PHOENIX till they are provided for on their own. Consider this and give orders as you judge fit.
