In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

The merchant ships MODENA, LOYAL MERCHANT, WOOLF, TIGER and PRINCESS at Blackwall; and the BONAVENTURE at Ratcliffe Cross are to be hired and fitted as warships. The Board is to negotiate with owners regarding rates for hire and is to report on the number of guns the ships would be capable of carrying. John Addis, Storekeeper at Plymouth is to be reimbursed for hiring and fitting out vessels for use as Advice Boats.
