Document signed by Sir John Lowther, Admiralty Commissioner, bap.1642-1706 and Robert Austen, Lord of the Admiralty, 1642-1696

Confirming and instructing that the Slaughter House at Chatham is to be enlarged and reminding that the MORDANT, SWALLOW and RICHMOND are to be ready to sail from the Nore by 15th September without fail. Accordingly Officers at the Yards are to state categorically whether the ships will be ready or not. The PORTLAND is also to be made ready in order to replace the MORDANT or the SWALLOW should that be found necessary. Instructions have been sent to the Commanders of the ships to keep their officers and crews constantly active; and any Clerk of the Cheque not following Navy rules is to be reminded of them.
