In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The beer we took at Portsmouth has proved very bad, stinking and running with worms. If the wind continues at west I will take on fresh beer, but if a fair wind prevails I will proceed on our voyage and drink water, which the men are willing to do rather than hinder their Majesties service. Written by Captain Rames, Commander of the CORONATION.
