In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Approving the suggestion the Navy Board has made that the ASSURANCE, which is intended to be stationed at Sheerness in place of the EAGLE, would come to best use as a Man of War to be used for operating "over the Flatts" [in shallow water]. She is to be allowed eighty men and armed with twenty-six light sakers.
