Document signed by James Southerne, Secretary to the Admiralty, fl. 1690-1694
I have communicated to the Admiralty Commissioners your letter of the 11th inst; and also the copy of one to you from Mr Fitch , in which he complains that a Ship laden by him with Tarras for the Portsmouth Dockyard was lately taken by the Enemy, by reason that the Man of War appointed to Convoy her went away.
The Commissioners have directed that you order Mr Fitch to give a particular account how his Ship was lost through the carelessness of the said Convoy, and also the other Ship mentioned in his letter.
