Correspondence relating to Captain James Hillyar
Folder of correspondence, including typed copies of three letters to a Mr N. Taylor from the Duke of Northumberland, dated 2 April 1804, 18 July and 19 September 1805. The first concerns one Captain [Henry?] Schank [Hillyar?] and progress of the war in the East Indies. The second concerning the doings of various friends and acquaintances. The third concerns the marriage of Mr Taylor's daughter to Captain Hillyar and the return of the Combined Fleet to Cadiz. Also includes cuttings from 'The Times', being obituaries of Sir Cecil Bishop, a son in law of Sir James Hillyar, 1848. Also includes 2 copies of 'The Times', 3 October 1798 and 7 November 1805. The former contains news of the battle of the Nile and the rising in Ireland. The latter contains news of the battle of Trafalgar.
