These drawings appear to have been made during the laying of the Suez to Aden cable by the British-Indian Submarine Telegraph Co in 1869-1870. They were purchased as part of the Horatio Nelson Head collection and at this time were wrongly attributed to Captain Charles Franklin Head (1796-1849).
