In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We direct you to cause the hired hospital ships BRISTOL, SYAM, SOCIETY and LONDON MERCHANT to be refitted by their Owners, the two former in this River, and the other two at Portsmouth, to attend their Majesties' Fleet as Hospital Ships next year.
They are to be victualled for four months, and furnished with Cradles, Beds and all other necessary accomodation for ships serving in that quality.
You are also to cause the Bomb vessel PHOENIX (now at Portsmouth) to be refitted for Service in the Channel, as you were directed lately to do with other Bomb vessels in this River.
