Document signed by Sir John Lowther, Admiralty Commissioner, bap.1642-1706 and Henry Priestman, Admiralty Commissioner, 1647-1712

Orders are given for the two new ships at Bursledon and Southampton, the two Advice Boats at Portsmouth, the Fireship building in the Thames by Mr Dalton and Mr Gardner and the new Sixth Rate at Chatham to be launched and named the LANCASTER, SUNDERLAND, PHEONIX, MERCURY and FLY respectively, while the new Sixth Rate is to be known as the LIZARD. All are to be entered on the list of the Navy and are to be fitted out for service in the Channel and crewed with the highest complement of men and victualled as follows: the LANCASTER and SUNDERLAND for four months, the MERCURY and FLY for two months, the LIZARD for three months and the PHEONIX the same as other Fireships in the main fleet for service during the coming summer.
