In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The fleet under the command of the Earl of Torrington is to rendezvous in the Downes and you are directed to have the fleet supplied with victuals during their continuance there, so that when they sail they may have on board as much as they can conveniently stow. You are to have the complements of men in the BERWICK and JERSEY increased to the numbers appointed in time of war, and that the JERSEY has only 4 months victuals for service in the Channel; the extra stores and victuals put on board her for her voyage to the West Indies taken off and put on shore. The ARCHANGEL bound for New York is to be supplied with victuals upon arrival at Spithead, to complete what she has already spent.
