In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Your letters of 18 and 22 April, advised us of the proposal made by you to Mr Bond for him to weigh the ST DAVID, which now lies sunk in Portsmouth Harbour. He is to perform this service upon being allowed materials and workmen and allowed £500. If he does not provide the service he is to pay their Majesties £500. You are directed to make an agreement with Mr Bond accordingly and to take care that he puts the work in hand immediately so that the season of the year for this work is not lost. You are to prepare an estimate of the charge for this service .
