In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

David Ellis, Cook of the PHOENIX, requests that he may have leave to act by deputy for some time, in consideration that he is much afflicted by rupture which renders him incapable of performing his duty. We have thought fit to appoint Benjamin Brinkley to be Deputy Cook for 6 months. You are directed to enter him accordingly together with such allowance of wages and victuals for himself and servant as is proper. His warrant is to be dated 13 May 1690.
