In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Rear Admiral Delaval advised us that, having expended a good part of his provisions, he asked the Victualling Agent at Portsmouth to complete his provisions to 4 months, but that Mr Ridge the Brewer refused him any more beer until his bills were met. You are directed to instruct the Commissioners for the Victualling to take care the proportions of victuals declared for this year are ready for their Majesties ships as they shall have occasion for them.
