Document signed by James Southerne, Secretary to the Admiralty, fl. 1690-1694.
Your letter of 2 April to me, asked for convoy for the three vessels going with provisions and stores for Shoreham and their Lordships have appointed the PLAY prize for that service. You are to hasten down the vessels to her that she may not stay for them. Let me know in what readiness the ships are in which the soldiers are to be transported to New York, the ARCHANGEL being waiting for them. Here enclosed is an extract of a letter to me from Captain Wren of the CORONATION, complaining of the badness of some of his victuals which you are directed to inquire into and let me know the truth of the matter.
