Album of portrait photographs from HMS BRITANNIA, Dartmouth, 1866-1870.

Album of carte-de-visite photographs, mainly studio portraits of naval cadets from the training ship HMS BRITANNIA in the period 1866-1870. The individuals are identified by captions in pen and a small pad with pencil notes is included. There are some portraits of officers and civilians including Lieutenant G.S. Nares, Lord W. Phipps, Commander Tynte F. Hammill, Admiral Corbett with his family, and the vicar of Dartmouth. The photographers include J. Smale and P.L. Widdicombe of Dartmouth.
