In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Pursers of the ships of the Straits Squadron are to be allowed funds to enable them to purchase the requirements needed for the voyage, together with money for paying crewmen for short allowance while the squadron is abroad; and as the ships will only be carrying two months beer, the Pursers are to be given money or credits to enable them to provide the men with drink.
