In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Sir Francis Wheeler has requested that in addition to the twelve months stores ordered for the Mediterranean Squadron his ships should be supplied with a spare topmast and a fish piece as these will not be available once they have sailed. He points out that two topmasts could serve as main or fore yards and that the fish pieces could strengthen the [lon] masts. In the event that these extra requirements cannot be made available before his ships sail, other ships bound for the Straits are to take them to him.
