In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

A detailed account of the beer money to be allowed to Pursers of the ships of the Mediterranean Squadron is to be given to its Commander Sir Francis Wheeler; and if Bills of Exchange are to be used their use is to be carefully regulated. Sir Francis is to choose from the hired Ketches at Portsmouth the ships that are to accompany him. They are to be supplied with stores from Portsmouth as required the charge for which is to be set against their freight charges. The tenders that attended the squadron during the summer are to be discharged and Sir Francis is to be allowed the pay of a Rear Admiral from last September together with his servants.
