In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
For the speedier dispatch of the service we have ordered all commanders of ships and vessels that come into port to be cleaned or refitted, to have all their guns, provisions and stores on shore 48 hours after they come to anchor. They are to have all guns, stores and provisions on board again 4 days after they are dispatched from the yards. The Commissioners of the Navy at Chatham, Portsmouth and Plymouth and the Clerk of the Cheque at Deptford, Woolwich and Sheerness are to give copies of the order to commanders and the original is sent to you. You are directed to give orders to the several officers under your direction as necessary.
