In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
In answer to the several queries from the Commissioners of the Victualling, the short money for the seamen of the Straits Squadron is to be proportioned according to the quantity of the dry provisions now with them, and the two months order to be sent them, and for the beers according to what is already with the ships of the Mediterranean. The full sum of credits for the same s to be sent together. The credits for the sum of £20,000 ordered for beverages and contingent uses for the squadron is all to be ordered at once. The Straits Squadron is meant both the ships with Admiral Russell and those that are at Cadiz with Rear Admiral Neville. As soon as we receive advice what proportion of credits shall be ordered at Cadiz, Alicante and Genoa, we shall send you notice thereof.
