In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We have considered your report of 23 April on the petition of the pursers of the Navy, and you are directed to make an allowance for the credit part of their accounts at the rate of 6d and 3/5 farthing a man a day from 1 October 1693, the time for which the Navy is to be paid, and to continue until further order. You are also to direct the Commissioners for the Victualling to comply with our late order for paying the pursers both their Ordinary and Extra money necessary at the time of their indenting and their balance bills. Your letter of 4 December 1693 advised us that several pursers had complained of the undergage of the beer, short weigh in the butter and oatmeal and the cheese delivered in bags and casks in broken pieces which had been picked out of rotten cheeses. You are to inquire into the truth of these complaints and to report to this Board.
