In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

You have advised us in your letter yesterday that the ST GEORGE at Portsmouth is very crazy [poor condition] and leaky and that, notwithstanding the charge of keeping her above the water, she is in danger of sinking and spoiling the harbour. The dock there is not capable of taking her in to be rebuilt or to have the leaks stopped and the yard officers have proposed bringing her to the jetty head to be taken down to the gun deck. You are directed to have her brought to the jetty head and taken down to the gun deck accordingly.
