In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
John Watford, late Boatswain of the QUEEN, by reason of infirmity is incapable of further employment and is to be discharged. Your report of 18 June stated that he has served in several ships as Boatswain between 26 and 27 years, which is more than the time limited for such officers to be superannuated. You are directed to settle a pension on him during his natural life equal to the wages and known allowances to boatswains of their Majesties' ships of the first rate, from the time of his discharge from the QUEEN and you are to sign bills quarterly on the Treasurer of the Navy for paying this pension.
