In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
John Green, late Boatswain of the ROYAL WILLIAM, by reason of age and infirmity is incapable of officiating in his employment and we have thought it fitting to discharge him. It appears by your report dated 8 February 1693 that he has served as Boatswain in several ships upwards of 20 years, which is more than the time limited for service of such officers to be superannuated by the Establishment made by His Majesty's Order in Council dated 11 October 1690. You are directed on him during his natural life equal to the wages and known allowances for a Boatswain of a first rate, to commence from the time he was discharged from the ROYAL WILLIAM. You are to sign bills quarterly on the Treasurer of the Navy for paying this pension.
