In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You advised in your letter of 27 June, that the privateer lately taken by the PORTSMOUTH and brought into Falmouth, is fit to serve as an advice boat and may carry 45 men and 10 guns in war and 30 men and 8 guns in time of peace. You are directed to buy this privateer on the best terms you can and to fit her out for sea (at Plymouth upon her arrival there) for service in the Channel, and established with men and guns accordingly and victualled for 2 months with all possible dispatch.
