In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

The Surveyor to the Navy and Commissioner Tymewell have agreed that the Prize recently taken by the ESSEX and now at Portsmouth should be purchased. Orders are given for her to be fitted out for service in the Channel with three months victuals and an opinion is called for regarding the number of men required to crew her together with the number and types of guns needed to arm her.
