In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
There is doubt whether Mr Shortiss, Assistant Shipwright at Chatham, is able to accompany Mr Wilshaw and other Officers to the Straits. Instructions are given for Mr Allen, Assistant Shipwright at Portsmouth, to go in his stead. If however Shortiss is found to be capable of having gone to the Straits he is to be suspended and another person recommended and reported to us. The NORWICH is to go into graving dock at Plymouth to be treated with pitch.
