In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Six men from the QUEEN have been put aboard Machine vessels and have since deserted. Captain Every has been ordered to record them as run. The names of the six men appear in the margin. The tickets that Every has sent in are not to be paid. The Navy Board's recommendation to appoint Valentine Cocklyn as Boatswain of the CHATHAM HULK is turned down. Alternative names are to be submitted. The enquiry the Navy Board has made concerning the Ordinary and Riggers at Deptford and Woolwich Yards as assisting with conveying the new 6th Rates to Longreach is answered by the instruction that they are not to be so employed so long as work is required in despatching Stores to the Straits.
