The Navy Board has sought advice concerning the payment of the Commanders of Fireships and Hospital Ships and the payment of Masters and Surgeons and the bounty to be paid to the widows and orphans of Officers killed in action and including Pilots. Instructions are given that Commanders of the first two categories are to receive double pay as are Masters and Surgeons. Widows and orphans are to benefit from established rates as are Pilots.
