In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Commissioners at Portsmouth have sent in a survey commenting on the poor condition of the HAMPTON COURT; and the Admiralty wishes to know how this can be, given that the ship has been in the Yard twice this Summer. Nevertheless, they wish to know whether she is in a condition to go to the Straits. Captain Lytcott Commander of the RUPERT now cruising off South Foreland has informed the Board that he has not been paid since her first fitting out. Orders are given for the ship to be paid on coming into port in line with other ships which are not part of the main fleet.
