In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

1. The Bomb Vessels: FIREDRAKE, SALAMANDER, SOCIETY, PORTSMOUTH, STAR, KITCHEN, JULIAN, OWNER'S ADVENTURE, GREYHOUND, MARY ANNE, ENDEAVOUR and TRUELOVE are to be fitted out and fully manned for service in the Channel, and victualled for three months so that they may be ready to receive mortars on board by the 15th December and be ready to sail by the beginning of January 1695.

2. Five vessels capable of taking the largest Machines are to be bought or hired and fitted out at Deptford as directed by Sir Martin Beckman. These are to be made ready to sail for the Nore by the 24th December. Meanwhile, the names of the five vessels chosen are to be given to the Admiralty Board, together with a list of their recommended complements of men. Each vessel is to be victualled for three months.

3. Several Pinnaces are to be provided to attend upon Sir Martin Beckman and the Officers under his command. Also three large smacks are required to carry Bombs, Carcasses and Powder to the Bomb Vessels.
