Document signed by William Bridgeman, c.1646-1699, English civil servant and Secretary to the Admiralty between 1694 and 1698.
In answer to your letter concerning the ADVENTURE, which has Stores for the St. ALBANS Prize and RICHMOND, I inform you that Orders have been sent to the C-in-C at the Nore, that in case when she arrives there any of their Majesties' Ships will be going to the Downs, to order her Commanders to Convoy her there. She is not to stay at the Nore for want of Convoy, but proceed without one, in case she should miss the opportunity of the Convoy now bound to Virginia. When the ADVENTURE gets to the Downs, if her Master applies to the C- in-C of the Convoy, Captain Crow of the NORWICH, he will take care of her to Virginia.
