In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Our Order to you of the 14th November directed you to pay Wages to four Marines belonging to Captain Spraggs Company in the 2nd Marine Regiment for the time they were employed in raising Recruits after discharge from the ESSEX. In answer to your query as to whether they should be borne on board ESSEX or ashore for Wages, the Marines are to borne onshore only, and the said Company is now at Greenwich.
