In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Your letter of the 11th inst; informed us that pursuant to our Order of the 10th November last you have given directions to the Clerk of the Cheque and Muster Masters to reduce the Complement of Ships of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Rates as therein directed. In regard to this it is necessary that a uniform Establishment should be made of the Complement of Men that are now to be allowed to Ships of the 4th Rate and upwards.
You have therfore prepared and sent to us a List of the said Ships with their Complements, to be in the manner following Viz An Establishment of Men for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Rates showing in three columns 1. Complement in War at home 2. Complement in War abroad 3.Complement in Peace.
List commencing with seven 1st Rates headed by the ST. ANDREW, followed by ten 2nd Rates headed by the ALBEMARLE, and then twenty-two third Rates headed by the BERWICK.
