In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Your letter of 7 January advised us that following the survey of the KENT your opinion was that with some work done she would serve for a summer or two in the Channel. Upon her arrival at Chatham you are directed to have her cleaned and refitted for service in the Channel and victualled for 4 months. We have received today a letter from the Commander of the DOVER advising that she has lost her foremast and the head of her mainmast through bad weather and is come into Plymouth. You are directed to have her repaired without the least loss of time.
